Why we use it
- To run your account and keep you signed in.
- To show your favorites, settings and layouts on any device where you sign in.
- To run your alert rules and deliver alerts in the app, by web push or by email, as you choose.
- To run AI features you choose to use, when they are available.
- To bill you, run trials and meet tax and accounting rules.
- To meet the terms of our market data licenses, which can require us to confirm non-professional use.
- To keep BigTape secure, prevent abuse and fix errors.
- To answer your messages.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. If we want to use your data for a new purpose, we update this page first and tell you in the app.
How long we keep it
- Account details, workspace, alert rules and alert history. Kept while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days after you delete your account.
- Billing records. Kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after your account is closed.
- Technical data and security logs. Kept for a short, fixed period, which this page states before paid plans open.
- Text typed into AI features. Kept for the period stated in the AI notice. That period is stated only after tests confirm the text is deleted on schedule.
- Backups. Deleted data can remain in backups until they are replaced on their normal schedule.
How to delete or export it
- Delete. Delete your account in Settings. That deletes your account details, workspace, alert rules and alert history within 30 days, except records the law requires us to keep.
- Export. Ask us for a copy of your personal data, and we send it within 30 days in a common file format.
- Correct. Change most details yourself in Settings, or ask us to correct them.
- Clear your browser storage. Clear BigTape's local storage at any time in your browser settings.
Send requests through the Contact page. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act. Depending on your location, you may have other rights over your data, and we honor them as the law requires.
Who processes it for us
The company that operates BigTape is responsible for your personal data. It is named on this page before paid plans open.
We use other companies to run parts of BigTape. They process personal data only on our instructions and only to provide their service. We list them by category, and we name a company only where the law requires it.
- Hosting and databases. Run BigTape's servers and store account data.
- Payment processing. Takes payments and handles billing.
- Email delivery. Sends sign-in, billing and alert emails.
- Web push. When you turn on browser notifications, your browser maker's push service delivers them.
- Error reporting and security. Help us find faults and block abuse.
- AI model provider. When AI features are available and you use them, receives the data described in the AI notice.
Cookies, local storage, fonts and script hosts
- Cookies. BigTape uses cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your session from forged requests. They are needed for the service to work. BigTape does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Local storage. Your browser's local storage keeps conveniences on your device, such as your theme, panel sizes and the last ticker you viewed. In the preview it also holds your demo account. You can clear it at any time.
- Fonts and script hosts. Some pages load typefaces from a font host, and code libraries, including the charting library, from public content delivery networks. When your browser fetches these files, the host receives your IP address and basic browser details, as it would for any web request. These requests do not include your account details.
